Greetings and thanks for coming back to our English class blog! This week's assignment will take 2 possible directions, depending on your blogging from last week (see Why Study Literature? - Part 1):
Possibility #1: You read last week's blog post and responded to the question contained in my post on time. If so, your assignment for this week is to please view the comments from last week's post and look for my response to your comment (I have personally read and responded to each one of your comments). Once you have read my response, add new comments to last week's post to continue our discussion. Again, please check for spelling and grammar, and also be sure that you use at least 150 words.
Possibilty #2: If you missed the deadline for last week's post (Why Study Literature? - Part 1) Please comment to last weeks' post on this week's post (Why Study Literature? - Part 2). PLEASE NOTE: Any comments posted in the wrong place will not be considered.

I think that when I say it helps me under stand I’m saying that if I were in there shoes I would hate it. Life now I so different from then and that we have it so much easier we don’t have to travel from state to state to find a job. We can find a job within miles of are home. And from Lennie’s point of view that could be anyone yea he’s really strong and can do things easy but imagine that being you and you having to be slow. Its a lot easier now cause people under stand those things better about people having those kinds of problems. It helps me understand that not everyone is alike. That everyone acts different has a different personality and different actions to different things. How would you like to travel around with someone that you had to constantly watch and keep a eye over wile you work. That would be hard and its not like that now it easier you don’t got to watch other people yea maybe look over their shoulder every now and then but life now compared to then we have it made.

I don’t think I can recommend just one book, but I would recommend Catcher in the Rye and Of Mice and Men. I loved these books because they were both short and entertaining, but they also had deeper meanings and morals. These books seemed to make the characters more real because they had an outside that everyone saw and a deeper inside that showed how they really are. In life every one has an outside to show and a truer inside like the true thoughts and feelings of a person. Catcher in the Rye and Of Mice and Men had these elements in their characters that made them more real than other books that I have read. They are my two favorite books for this year and other years.

I seem to be convinced that communication meaning the way we read, write, speak, and list is really how we know the world. I agree with you that our different styles of lititurature andway of speaking is a repercussion of how we present our self and the way we use certain jargon, for example if i was to go to a job interview i wouldn't talk to my future boss as if he was one of my colleagues i would present myself with knowledge of what work enviroment im going to and be well mannered.
ReplyDeleteI believe that my favorite part of english so far is the expansion of my vocabulary. I've learned to not use such dull words such as "bad, good, or because" all the time. Now I try to make my sentences more intresting and using synonyms for dull words. The book that I took intrest in the most was Of Mice Of Men the reason behind this was maybe in behalf of the tight connection within characters. That is when we really analyzed each character and the author and the feelings the author had towards with each particular one. It kind of puts you in the mind of the author if you are to go back and read it.

When I said literature is a way for kids to stay interested I meant that since literature is so expressive and beautiful kids don’t get as bored. It just shows how their writing can be if they read literature. Relating to the author shows that you understand what their talking about. It also helps you put yourself in their shows and understand the book better. I think it is important to relate to animals because it shows how a person can be showed like how the author describes them. Like when we did sympathy or unsympathetic.

Studying literature in English is worthwhile to me because I am able to learn more about different eras and could get a feel for how life was centuries ago. Also I would be able to broaden my mind and learn many different things. Literature can have a certain story behind what’s being told and you would be able to think about how different people are feeling and why it is that they act like they do. Literature can be a fascinating thing if you’re one that likes to read it.

we should study literture because it can teach us stuff others can't or we can find out stuff that is new to us that we never heard of or we don't. it can just teach us and can be an excercise for the brain.
